everyone’s talking about yorgos lanthimos’s directorial genius and rightfully so BUT did anyone else know that the screenplay for the favourite was written twenty years ago by this woman deborah davis who had never written a screenplay before but had just discovered the story of queen anne and sarah and abigail in her work as a historian and become obsessed with it? so she did all this primary source research and went to night school to learn how to write screenplays and she finished her first draft in 1998 and started shopping it around and absolutely no one would finance the film because of the lesbian content and because studios were worried it would be hard to market without a male lead? and it wasn’t until fifteen years later in 2013 that the script came to yorgos and he was invested enough to start looking for funders, and then it wasn’t until this year that they finally put out the movie… literally it was twenty years in the making and all because deborah davis cared enough about this story to spend TWO DECADES revising her screenplay and sending it to producers

One of the interesting things I’ve learned while writing for DBZ is that, while women are as fully capable of having killer ab muscles as men, not all women can have visible ab muscles and be healthy, due to the fat ratios in women’s bodies vs. men’s bodies (and a few genetic factors). A lot of women need to be carrying a higher percentage of fat than you can have visible abs with to be healthy - it’s just a thing. The awesome abs are still there, you just can’t see them.

That said, one of my pet headcanons is that Videl falls in this group of women who can’t get visible abs and maintain peak health. And, as a martial artist of her caliber, she’s too health-conscious to drop her fat percentage enough to make them visible, and this low-key kills her.

Double-bonus-secret headcanon - due his saiyan heritage, Gohan hasn’t dropped below a four-pack at his absolute laziest since he hit his teens, and as a result Videl has a love-hate relationship with her boyfriend/husband’s abs. Like, they’re there, and she likes them, but he doesn’t have to really work for them and doesn’t really care about them and she wants what he has in this instance, forget super saiyan, Videl wants a visible six-pack!!!
